The difference between SMA connector and 3.5mm connector

The type of connector made of material is easily distinguished by the center pin. SMA connectors have foam beads, while 3.5mm connectors use an air interface.

For price reasons, 3.5mm connectors are typically used in metering applications and SMA connectors in production. Therefore, it is not uncommon for coatings and scratches on the SMA to affect the connection. Due to the price of 3.5mm, SMA and 3.5mm connectors must be mixed carefully. Avoid damaging the pins of SMA and 3.5 mm connectors.

The inner conductor aperture size of the male and female connectors of the two connectors is relatively close, and the outer conductor thread size adopts the same standard, but the outer conductor size, cutoff frequency, insulating dielectric material, etc. exist. When different types of connectors are used for interconnection, larger differences will affect transmission performance or test accuracy.
