ThisM series connectorshave achieved better results and results. Today we will focus on the M12 connector inside.
M8/M12 connect ors are now recommended in almost all fieldbus specifications and comply with the standard IP67 protection class, traditionally used for connecting sensors and actuators in automation technology. The connectors in this standard have a higher level of protection.
M12 connector
According to EIA/TIA standards, M8/M12 connectors correspond to the transmission technical conditions for Category 5 modular jacks (RJ45). The use of the D code prevents incorrect connections to the A code and brake wiring to the B code.
There was no type ofM8/M12 conn ector that could be used on printed circuit boards until 2005, when circular M8/M12 connectors with surface mount terminals were created. The surface mount terminals help to miniaturise field devices. The robust pins enable them to pass through batch packaging and the corresponding feeding process using vibratory bowls.
The basic modular design concept creates connectors with various mounting heights and different pin types. Depending on the user's requirements, the termination methods offered include surface mount, crimp or through-hole reflow technology, with surface mount technology being the standard. The black insulators of the connectors are made of high-temperature-resistant plastic and are therefore problem-free in all conventional surface-mount soldering processes.
The controller in the switchgear cabinet uses I/O cards to drive the field devices. Today, industrial automation tends towards decentralised systems where excitation brakes and sensors are often connected to passive or fieldbus performance I/O boxes. In order to cost-effectively provide solutions for multiple applications, specific field devices require an advanced modular flexible connector solution. For this purpose, circular M8/M12 connectors of various printed circuit board types are complemented by cable systems. Different model shapes, pin counts, cable qualities and lengths help to achieve cost-effective customised automation solutions.
